AAUW North Carolina, founded in 1927, has long supported the mission and goals of the Association, the AAUW Educational Foundation and the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund. It is committed to the Association's goal of Diversity in its membership and its coalitions. It has strong programs in Educational Equity, Public Policy and International Affairs. It partners with the North Carolina institutions of higher education through the College/University program. It is strengthening its use of Technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness in meeting its programmatic goals. Since 1953, AAUW NC has awarded an annual Award for Juvenile Literature. A History of AAUW NC from 1947-2001 can be ordered from the AAUW NC treasurer.

In the Fall of 2002, it started a "ReConnection" process to strengthen the ties between AAUW NC and the branches.

In 2005, we are starting a Speakers' Bureau to provide programming on request.

For more information on any of these areas, please see the links at the left or check with the state chair listed on the contacts page. To learn even more, please consider joining us.
