Overview
Since 1881 the American Association of University Women has been
the nation's leading voice promoting education and equity for women and girls.
Through landmark research, it has changed the conversations about girls in schools.
Its public policy advocacy has worked to inform and mobilize members on many issues
affecting the lives of women and girls. AAUW North Carolina is the vehicle that
brings the work of the Association home to our communities and you are invited
to join us. While most of our contacts are through members of branches, we encourage
at-large members of the Association to investigate the benefits of joining AAUW
NC.
Categories of membership
Choose a category of membership that works for you:
- Branch member
- If you hold an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate or higher degree and
wish to connect with other AAUW members in your community, please contact
one of the branches about how to join. All branch members in NC are also
members of AAUW and AAUW NC.
- Member-at-large
- You don't have to affiliate with a branch to join as a "member-at-large".
Join the Association to start
receiving the benefits
of the "national" organization. Once you're an Association member-at-large,
consider supporting the work in NC (including this web site, the AAUW NC newsletter,
and state public policy efforts) by joining AAUW NC
for an additional $11/year. [Sorry. Our online system is temporarily offline.
Please contact info@aauwnc.org if you'd like to join.]
- College/University partners
- Degree granting institutions may join the Association as college/university
members and appoint a member of their staff or faculty as a representative who
will receive all the benefits of Association and AAUW NC members-at-large. These
members may also join branches by paying branch dues. Others on campus are welcome
to join as branch members or members-at-large. Check the list of current
C/U member institutions to see if yours is listed, and consider encouraging
your institution to join if it hasn't already.
- Student Affiliates
- Students enrolled in a bachelor's or associate's degree program may join either
at-large or affiliated with a branch. They may also start a student based organization
on campus. Contact one of the people listed on the branch
information page or see www.aauw.org
for at-large information. AAUW NC does not charge fees to student affiliates.
For information about the support AAUW NC can offer student affiliates-at-large,
please contact aauwnc@rtpnet.org.
