New information at the Board meeting

See the minutes for the complete record, but in the meantime, here are some notes of new information presented at the board meeting:

  • South Atlantic Regional Director's Report (, 11K)
  • The board approved allocating $300 of AAUW NC funds to the student leadership conference to be held the Friday of the AAUW NC Conventin in Charlotte.
  • Funds from the disbanded Tarboro branch were received. A motion was made to apply any of those funds not designated for other purposes (such as EF) to the dues of former Tarboro members who wished to join as MALs or members of the NC Online Satellite and then to use the remaining money to fund the 2004 AAUW NC Student Leadership Conference with appropriate thanks to Tarboro.
  • The motions related to the AAUW NC Policy Statement passed. [Updated version.]
  • The board discussed its continued support of the Costa Rica IFUW Membership.
  • Joan Robertson offered to store extra copies of the AAUW History. New orders should still be directed to Clara Allen.
  • ReConnection Process (background information)
    • Goal IV (Face-to-face): packets were presented to cluster ambassadors. The presentation should be available soon.
    • Goal IV (Face-to-face): Will take the lead in developing a state-level recognition program for branches
    • Goal VI (Changes to Structure): A motion to expand the group looking at the specifics of this issue passed. More details.

Details

The AAUW NC Executive Committee has rescheduled the Fall Board Meeting for Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 9:30 AM at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 200 N. Regan St. in Greensboro, NC. Because of the short notice, we are asking that you respond ASAP so that we can have a count for lunches. The lunch will cost $5.00. Money will be collected at the meeting. If possible, adjustments will be made for those who sent registrations to Brevard.

Directions

From the EAST:
1. Take I-40 W
2. Take the NC-6/E. LEE St exit (exit # 128) - toward US-29N/US-220N.
3. Keep RIGHT at the fork in the ramp.
4. Merge onto E LEE St.
5. Turn RIGHT on BENNETT ST
6. BENNETT ST becomes S DUDLEY ST
7. Turn LEFT onto E MARKET ST
8. E MARKET becomes E FRIENDLY AVE (BP station is on your left)
9. Turn RIGHT onto N REGAN ST (church is on the corner)
10.Turn RIGHT into parking lot and go around to back and come in that entrance

From the WEST
1. Take I-40E
2. Merge onto FREEMAN MILL RD via exit 218B
3. FREEMAN MILL RD becomes S EDGEWORTH ST
4. Turn RIGHT onto W MARKET ST
5. Come down to the BP station on your left and just after you pass the station bear LEFT and make a WIDE UTURN onto E FRIENDLY AVE coming over to your far right. (If you miss this, come up to light at Dudley and make uturn )
6. Turn RIGHT onto N REGAN ST (church is on the corner)
7.Turn RIGHT into parking lot and go around to back and come in that entrance
