Report to the Board
October 26, 2002
Nancy Shoemaker, Technology Chair

Accomplishments since Summer, 2002

1. Process for collecting branch officer contact information was refined so that for 2003 the process should be much easier for the branches. Lists of officers by branch and/or by office are now easily generated in several formats using Microsoft Access as a foundation technology.

2. Continued support of the Winston-Salem branch in launching the NC Online Satellite. The branch now has a web page and its newsletter is posted online.

3. Continued tech consulting to NC Women United. They are still borrowing web space from AAUW NC to, for instance, post the Women's Agenda Assembly documents. However, www.ncwu.org should be "live" by the end of November.

4. Analyzed errors in the Fall THN mailing list. Many members in good standing were dropped from the list. If cooperation can be secured from the Association, draft lists will be provided to the branches for verification before the next mail date.

5. Completed draft of electronic communication policy - see attached.

6. Posted material from Summer Conference, including many templates for personalizing Association brochures.

Plans (by Spring Board meeting)

1. Continue to encourage all AAUW NC board members with programmatic responsibilities to contribute summary information for the web site.

2. Implement "digest" option for those who would prefer collections of e-mail messages related to AAUW NC. [This was delayed for technical reasons related to upgrades on RTPnet. It will be implemented as soon as the appropriate infrastructure is in place.]

3. Create a flyer that works as an introduction to the web site.

Deferred (need does not appear critical)

1. List of technology camps on the web site. [This may be revisited as part of a statewide program.]
