Background information
Actions requested by 2006 Convention
At the spring convention, two motions were passed that affect the branches
directly:
- That AAUW NC adopt Tim Tysons book, Blood Done Sign My Name, as a statewide
branch book read and discussion for 2006-2007. The motion was seconded. Discussion
emphasized that each branch can design its own program to use this book as a venue
for programming and/or discussion. The motion then carried.
To assist the branches in this activity, a discussion
guide has been prepared, and Diversity Chair Queen Thompson is available for
additional suggestions.
If you haven't already planned your program here, you may also find helpful
Barbara Bamberger Scott's review at bookreporter.com.

- That education about AAUWs history with the International

Federation of University Women and its current relationship with IFUW be included
in branch programming and newsletters to help AAUW NC members respond to AAUWs
possible new role within international womens issues.
You can find new resources to help meet this goal at www.aauw.org's
International Corner and, in particular, new collection
of project papers.
