Executive Committee Minutes
Friday July 14, 2006 at 7 PM
Sandhills, North Carolina

Present: Shoemaker, White, Atkinson (K), Atkinson (J), Hoffler-Foushee and Hill

The Executive Committee meet briefly following dinner with some of the Sandhills members who will be hosting the leadership conference tomorrow.

The minutes of the Executive Committee meetings for February 4, June 17, and July 8, 2006 (each meeting was conducted as a telephone conference meeting) were approved by consensus.

The committee reviewed the agenda for the meeting tomorrow on July 15. Nancy outlined the organization and structure of the breakout sessions. Members of the EC were assigned as group discussion leaders and/or recorders.

Judy reviewed the progress to date for the October 21 Fall Leadership meeting in Statesville. The morning will be dedicated to hosting/modeling a Womens Assembly. Statesville branch members will be working with members of the Advocacy Leadership Team to promote the event and include as many non AAUW NC members in the Assembly. The intent is to promote the Assembly Agenda format to branches to demonstrate how the Assembly could be replicated at the local level and to train AAUW NC leaders to participate in Advocacy Day in Raleigh in the future. Mary Peterson is preparing a public policy platform for discussion at the meeting.

Barbara outlined the role of AAUW NC in the NC Carolina Conference for Women in Charlotte on October 19. She urged everyone to attend. AAUW NC will rent space for a display table at the conference.

Millie discussed the current policy for reimbursement of mileage. She recommended that Board members be able to waive the current 50 mile radius restriction. No formal action was taken on this recommendation.

The meeting was adjourned at 8 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
Karla Atkinson, Secretary
