AAUW NC Convention

Friday, March 31 - Sunday April 2, 2006

Sheraton New Bern Hotel and Marina.

$109 (+ 13% tax) rate available until March 1, 2006.

NOTE: All convention activities will take place at the hotel, except for the workshop at Craven Community College on Friday morning.

Deadlines

March 1: reserve hotel room
March 1: branch reports due to survey@aauwnc.org*

March 10: deadline for tax id to be sent to AAUW*

March 17: return credentials/delegation report*
March 17: register for Convention (or pay late fee)
March 17: make tour reservations
March 17: LAF Breakfast sponsorship (to be listed in program)
March 17: NC 100 Club deadline (to be listed in program)

March 27: Names for memorial service to Joanne*

*Branch president responsibility. [Also remember that the values discussions should be completed by April 30.]

Friday

Registration: 12:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Hospitality room open: 2:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Tour of Tryon Palace: 2:00 p.m., $12
Trolley Tour: 4:00 p.m., $15

Dinner with Tim Tyson: 5:45 p.m. Details TBA.

AAUW NC Board meeting: 7:00 - 9:30 p.m.

Friday Morning Workshop

Start your convention Friday morning, March 31 at Craven Community College! AAUW and CCC will co-sponsor workshops on Pathways for Women: Money, Careers and Language. Registration 9:00 - 10:00, Program, 10:00 - 11:15. Registration: $5. More details.

Saturday

Registration: 8:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m.
Hospitality room open: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.; 9:30 - 11:00 p.m.

An early Sat. breakfast will feature a Legal Advocacy Fund plaintiff. Please return the sponsorship form to support LAF - even if you cannot attend the breakfast. List of donors.

Workshops will be presented on a variety of topics: Women and Money, Education Equity, Department of Labor Apprenticeship and Training Program.

Sunday

Nancy Shoemaker, president-elect, will lead a breakfast discussion of the coming changes in the AAUW NC board structure and explain new ways to participate. This will be free for those who agree to take on an AAUW NC role for 2006-2007.

We will then remember those who have shaped our past. [Branch presidents should send names to Joanne Hill, aauwncprez@direcway.com.]

We will also hear from the two NC branches who received AAUW Community Action Grants: Winston-Salem and Bryson City.
