Telephone Conference
Saturday July 8, 2006 at 10 am

Executive Committee Minutes
The minutes from the Executive Committee meetings on February 4, June 17 and July 8, 2006 will be approved at the July 14, Executive Committee meeting before the 2006 Summer Leadership meeting in Sandhills.

Financial Statements
Millie is still waiting for comments from the person who is reviewing the 2004-2005 AAUW NC financial records.
Millie will have the end-of-year 2005-2006 financial statement ready to present at the summer leadership meeting in Sandhills this upcoming weekend.

The committee decided to ask another individual (Betty Runion of Brevard) to review the 2005-2006 AAUW NC financial records. The task involves verifying the opening and ending balances for this fiscal period and should not be too time consuming. A brief report should be ready in mid September, for presentation at the fall board meeting.

Upcoming Summer Leadership Meeting
The EC will meet for dinner at 5:30pm on Friday, July 14. Anyone is welcome to attend. The EC will meet briefly after dinner to review Saturday’s agenda and address other concerns that arise between today’s meeting and July 14.

The EC reviewed the agenda for the July 15 meeting in Sandhills. Paper packets will be prepared for attendees as well as for branch presidents not in attendance. Nancy will prepare the packets which will include material on policies, meeting rules, mini grants and other background information on the new structure.

The morning will include brief finance, program and membership reports, followed by break out discussion groups for each of the six committees. Each of the six discussion groups will have about 15 minutes to report out and offer recommendations/motions before lunch.

Each of the six committees is expected to have a draft of their goals before the July 15 meeting.

To make this meeting more fun, the EC decided to hold an “Elevator Speech” contest and present prizes for the winning “entry.”

In addition to issues raised from the discussions in small groups, board discussion at this summer meeting should also include: (1) participation in the October 19 women’s conference in Charlotte, (2) format for the fall board meeting on October 21 in Statesville and (3) (if time) the AAUW NC blog site which invites comments from AAUW NC members throughout the state.

Miscellaneous
Only 50% of branches have returned copies of their updated bylaws to Joanne. She will follow up with non responding branches.

Joanne will also contact Association to see what paperwork they have received from any AAUW NC branches that appear to have been dissolved.

The High Country Branch has submitted paperwork and should soon be officially recognized as a new branch in the western North Carolina/Boone area.

Nancy and Barbara will continue to talk with Kinston branch leaders, to see if they need assistance with keeping their branch intact.

Congratulations were offered to Millie who has been appointed to the Association Finance Committee. She noted that Association has not approved their budget yet.

The EC conference call ended at 11:20 am.
