Activities of the MVP and Membership Committee since the July 2006 Leadership
Meeting:
- Development of more user-friendly Branch
Recognition Program--circulated
in fall Branch Presidents' Mailing
- Branch
Program Summary (Queen Thompson)---to determine demographics of
those being reached by AAUW branch activities
- Partnering organization of NC
Conference for Women (AAUW name was included
in all media/website information to help with visibility)
- Organization of exhibit for NC Conference for Women (Conference will be
held immediately before Fall meeting so outcome is not included in this report)
- Continued contact with C/U reps to build relationships and determine programs/activities
of mutual interest (See Sheila Bassoppo-Moyo's report for details)
- MVP attended Ruth Pauley Lecture Series event (Jack Hanna)----Sandhills/Southern
Pines received minigrant to assist with funding of this series
- Continued Diversity initiatives (See Queen Thompson's report for details)
- Kinston and Franklin County have asked to be disbanded---action to
be determined in consultation with Association Membership Office
Future Plans:
- Assessment of state participation in NC Conference for Women to determine
effectiveness in building coalitions/membership and if it is a good use of
state funds in the future
- Formation of Student Affiliate Group in Raleigh area (need volunteers to
work directly with students)
- Staff membership table at Women's Agenda Assembly at Fall Leadership Conference
(Statesville Branch can assist)
- Presence of Ann Gustafson (AAUW MVP) as Leader-on-Loan at State Convention
2007 to gain novel strategies for membership growth/development
- Continued identification of future state leaders for mentoring/leadership
development
