Educational Foundation Report for Fall Board Meeting, 2002
        October 25, 2002

Report from Mary Jo Pribble, Educational Foundation Chair-North Carolina

Each Branch EF Chair will soon receive a packet of materials to help with
their planning.  The packet will include materials to help promote
the Foundation's fellowship and grants programs in your community.

Please send contributions for the 2002 recognition year to Dr. Mary Jo Pribble,
1074 Maplewood Court, Hendersonville, NC 28791 by December 15, 2002.  I must
send all contributions to the Foundation office by January 15, 2003 and in order
to be sure they are in the office before the deadline I would like to send all
items before Christmas.  I will, of course, process all contributions received
in time to reach the Foundation office by January 15, 2003.  Contribution
forms are now available only  on the website at <http://www.aauw.org/6000/forms/contrreport.html>.

It would be helpful if you would share information about successful fund
raising events for the Educational Foundation that your Branch has sponsored.
These can be included in your branch news sent to the Tar Heel News or
        on our state listserve.

We will have a silent auction as an EF fund raising event at the Convention
in Raleigh, April 4-6, 2003.  Please begin planning and be sure that
your branch brings several items for the auction.

The most recent communication from the Educational Foundation brought
the very sad news that former Foundation President, Alice Ann Lidel Jacobs,
lost her battle with cancer in August.  Inspired by Alice Ann's long
time philanthropic committment, the Foundation  has established the
Future Fund.  Before her death, Alice Ann selected two projects of
special interest to her.  The first is a Women's Resource Center,
housed in the Foundation office, which will provide programs and networking
opportunities for women.  The second project includes the establishment
of a Women's Music and Arts Festival to celebrate women's contribution
to the arts.  Additional information about the Future Fund will be
        included in an upcoming mailing.
