LAF Report, April 2003 |
Total LAF contributions for 2002 were $7,791.83 an increase of $1,388 over the previous year. Very encouraging also, was the fact that 19 out of 24 branches made a contribution in 2002, an increase of three more branches over the previous year. (Rocky Mount also made a $200 contribution before they disbanded. If you count Rocky Mount in the totals20 out of 24 branches donated to LAF last year) Top branches for the 2002 fundraising year follow:
We welcome guests Sylvia Newman, President of the Legal Advocacy Fund, and Amy Houghton, Director of LAF to Convention 2003. We thank the LAF staff for conducting a Campus Outreach Program in conjunction with Convention on the campus of NCSU on April 4. A special welcome to LAF supported plaintiff Kathy Sokol who will be our keynote speaker at the Legal Advocacy Fund breakfast on Saturday, April 5. The breakfast fundraiser, as of this date, has reached $2,465. Thanks to all of you for your great support of this effort. The Legal Advocacy Fund has adopted two new cases. Robyn Handler vs., Nova Southeastern University and Linda Brodskey vs, State University of New York at Buffalo. Complete details of these cases will be in the next issue of the Tar Heel News. I will be stepping down as the NC LAF Liaison in June. I want to thank all of you for your continued support of LAF during these last two years. Doris Bernlohr AAUW NC LAF Liaison |
