Item #6
GUIDELINES FOR CERTIFYING DELEGATES
There are three categories of voting delegates:
1) State representatives including elected and appointed state officers,
state committee chairs, and state past presidents (Persons serving in
two state positions--officer, committee chair, past president--may not
appoint someone to represent them in the second position. They must
vote as one or the other.)
2) Branch presidents {Branch presidents are listed as "first delegate"
for their Branch. A branch president may appoint someone to take her
place as first delegate under the following circumstances: a) she is
not attending the Conference; b) she falls into the above category of
state representative.}
3) Depending on the number of members as of February 1, a branch president
may be allowed to appoint additional delegates from her Branch according
to the chart that follows:
1 - 37 members = 1 delegate (this is the president or her representative)
38 - 62 members = 2 delegates (including the president or her representative)
63 - 87 members = 3 delegates (including the president or her representative)
88 - 112 members = 4 delegates (including the president or her representative)
113 - 137 members = 5 delegates (including the president or her representative)
138 - 162 members = 6 delegates (including the president or her representative)
163 - 187 members = 7 delegates (including the president or her representative)

Item #7
We are trying to determine the present location and circumstances of past
state presidents. If any of your Branch members are state presidents, we
would like to know that and whether they will be attending the conference.

IN SUMMARY:
Please respond to this message by telling me:
1) if Carpenter, Faulkner, or Norris are members of your branch (Item #4)
2) whether or not you will be attending the Conference
3) whether or not you agree with the membership count given above for
your Branch (Item #6)
4) the names of your Branch's delegates (these also go to Phyllis
Guberman) (Item #6)
5) information on past presidents from your branch

I know this is long, but if you could send this information to me, I would
be very grateful. Especially, if you could send it by Sunday afternoon.
I will be leaving for Wilmington on Monday morning. Any e-mail I receive
after that will not reach me.

Thanks for all you do, Lee Laidlaw

And from an earlier message from Mary Jo: Nancy Shoemaker, Computer Technology Chair, will be at Convention and would like to make contact with members who are involved in publishing branch information. In your branch this may be the newsletter editor, the person who maintains the mailing list, the historian, the yearbook editor or the webmaster. Please do have at least one person look for her and share your branch's ideas and issues. She's hoping to set up a committee with at least one person in each cluster to work on this in 2001-2002. Contact Nancy at shoemaker@acm.org for more information. Please let Mary Jo know if you are planning to attend the Austin convention.
